Tom Dawe

Tom Dawe is a graduate the University of New Mexico. Following graduation he enrolled at Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, FL. In 1968 he joined the United States Army. In 1969 Tom completed Infantry Officers Candidate School at Ft. Benning, GA, in 1969. After he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, Infantry, Tom was assigned to the 5th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, Colorado prior to receiving orders for Viet Nam.

After receiving orders for Viet Nam, Tom completed training at the Jungle Operation Training Center at Ft. Sherman, Canal Zone.

Upon arrival in Viet Nam, Tom was assigned to Advisory Team 86 of the Military Assistance Command Viet Nam (MACV) where he served as a First Lieutenant Advisor team leader in Long An Province until August, 1971. Tom was awarded the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge for his service in Viet Nam.

After returning to the United States, Tom completed law school in 1973 and returned to New Mexico where he was admitted to practice law. Following his admission to the New Mexico State Bar Association, Tom served in the Army Reserve and received a branch transfer to the Judge Advocate General’s Corp where he served as a Captain until 1981.

Tom continues to practice law in Albuquerque where he lives with his wife, Melinda. Tom has two grown sons and three grandchildren.

Tom has been a member of the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Veterans Memorial Foundation, Inc., since 2005.
